We bankruptcy lawyers have a duty to give our clients/potential clients good common sense advice even when it may not be exactly what they want to hear.

Like you, I see many people who owe substantially more than their house is worth, and in most of those situations the best financial decision is for them to surrender the house and live elsewhere. 

I recently posted an article on my Oklahoma Bankruptcy Lawyer Blog regarding an Arizona law school professor who is encouraging homeowners who are struggling to make mortgage payments when they have no equity to just walk away from their homes and not feel bad about it.
